Bloke battling heart disease

A friend of more than two decades had a heart disease a well known cardiovascular disease several weeks back, but luckily he’s recovering well. Before his heart disease, he was a fit, led an active, healthy lifestyle, running almost daily and even competing in local races. About a month before his heart attack he experienced chest pains during a walk in the local park. “At first I thought I was just having a one off pain and would see it through. However the frequency of the chest pains increased, even while relaxing at the park,” he said. A chance chinwag with a female friend later that evening led to an appointment with a cardiologist following morning. A day later, heart disease became part of his life after he was diagnosed as having a near total blockage in his left anterior descending artery. He was told it was only a matter of a week before he would have suffered a massive and likely fatal heart attack. He is now so grateful that female lady chinwag was life saving otherwise even your blogger wouldn’t have had a chance to see him again, its an outcome that does not bear thinking. When I had a chat with him, he said treatment for a heart condition didn’t end in hospital and that his recovery will continues at home where is currently recuperating. According to expert definition, cardiovascular disease refers to all diseases and conditions involving the heart and blood vessels. The main types are stroke, coronary heart disease and heart failure. In the past, such challenges were known to be affecting older people but nowadays even children are facing the same. Heart attacks can strike anyone, regardless of age.One of the biggest challenge is that us young adults generally disregard certain health screening tests, believing we don’t need them until we are older, such as tests for cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar.

But as my friend case shows, hospitalization rates for younger adults suffering from cardiovascular diseases has increased. As he narrated, his heart disease has been a life-changing experience that he will never forget. It's very common for him nowadays to feel worried, sad, angry, lonely but like i told him, such emotions don't usually last long and he will be fine in months and years to come. Depression, anxiety and lack of social support can slow recovery and increase risk of more problems but for his case, he’s been well taken care on those two fronts.Following his release from hospital, he is determined to spread the word about heart diseases and how they can affect people of any age at any time even babies and young children. Although severe coronary heart disease at present are predominantly treated by surgery, he said its better to do everything possible to avoid them.My friend is hopeful that by May this year which will be three months on from his surgery, he will have resumed normal activities and ease back into running. He also shared how he has spoken to other heart diseases patients and is so pleased that they are spreading the word on heart diseases and how no one is safe from cardiovascular diseases. Heart disease experience has changed his life and the greatest lesson is for him to listen to his body if things do not seem quite right. Heart disease affects all walks of life, the more we know about it the better equipped we will be to understand and develop better ways to care for people. Its common sense that my friend case will not be about just raising awareness on this site about it but sharing information so that we can all benefit. As we parted, he couldn’t adequately express how thankful he was for your blogger checking on him.
