Research: World’s most used app is Google Map
According to the latest date released
data recorded over the second quarter of 2013, Google Maps is the most
commonly used smartphone app in the worldwide. GlobalWebIndex, a digital media agency,
collected and correlated data that shows the most popular apps. In their
findings, Google Maps usage tops among the world's 969 million plus smartphone
users over the second quarter of 2013. Google Maps was at the very
head of the top ten most actively used smartphone apps with 54% of smartphone
users having accessed it in the period of the survey. In second was the
Facebook app, which 44% of smartphone users accessed while third position went
to YouTube on 35% followed in fourth position by the Google+ mobile app that
has 30% usage. Skype came in lower down the list, being used by 22% of
smartphone users that was the same level of percentage with those who accessed
Facebook Messenger.
Few days ago, Google in a blog posting
announcing the ads, Google said that it has switched on
"relevant ads" in Google Maps for
iOS and Android. Relevant ads on the Google Maps app will now appear
at the bottom of the screen after a user performs a search. They consist of a
title, ad text and a link to get directions. In the blog post, users will be
able to tap or swipe upward to see more information in a new click type known
as "Get location details" and results in a standard CPC charge. In a
nutshell, when users click on an ad to get location details, additional
information that include but not limited to business's address, reviews, phone
number, photos will pop up while aggregated reporting for free clicks would be
available in users account. There is no doubt in my mind that Google wants users to get the most out
of their Google Maps apps with these helpful tips for using offline maps and
other features.
